Ron Faris
May 8 – June 26, 2025
About This Exhibition
Faris’s exhibition represents a selection of candid photographs he has taken over the past 50 years. Photographs include black and white and color images of people, landscapes, and nature from his everyday life and travels. Numerous images in this show, dedicated to the memory of his father-in-law, well known Maine art and photography figure Steve Halpert, offer a glimpse of his loving relationship with his Maine in-laws.
About the Artist
Self-taught photographer, Ron Faris, began honing his observational skills as a career cell biologist. Many of his images have been described as painterly. Faris reveals form and detail by combining the impact of light, perspective, and movement. He often uses digital manipulation to create an abstraction or help convey an emotion. Faris has won multiple awards in juried exhibitions, and his photographs are included in private collections, and in the Stephen K Halpert Collection of Photography at the University of New England. Born in Hopewell, Virginia, he now lives in Portland, Maine.
