About This Exhibition
Steve and Judy Halpert have been supporters of photography and film for years and have been acquiring photographs since the early 1960s. The Steve and Judy Photography Collection, Part II exhibits the work of more than 20 artists including Berenice Abbott, Eugene Atget, Edward Curtis, Jim Daniels, Barbara Goodbody, Michael Kolster, Judy Glickman Lauder, Verner Reed, Todd Webb, and many others.
About Steve and Judy Halpert
Steve Halpert served on the faculty full-time at Westbrook College/University of New England and as an adjunct at the University of Maine and the Maine College of Art and Design. He created the Permanent Photography Collection at Westbrook College/University of New England in the 1960s and has been curating photography exhibitions there ever since. While serving on the boards of the Portland String Quartet and other music organizations, Judy joined with Steve in owning and operating The Movies on Exchange Street for some 30 years before they moved it for another seven years to the Portland Museum of Art.
