DaPonte String Quartet – December 2022

Thursday, December 1, 2022
7:00 pm-8:30 pm
(No Intermission)

MJM is thrilled to be bringing back the DaPonte String Quartet for the first time since the pandemic! In this first of four planned concerts at the Museum, they will be presenting a new program, “Duo and Trio,” featuring the Beethoven C minor Trio, the Ernö Dohnányi Serenade, and the Mozart Duo in B flat.

The Beethoven, written at the height of his first compositional period, exemplifies the composer’s early mastery of the genre. Written in 1902, Dohnányi’s Serenade for String Trio is packed with dramatic twists and turns. If you’ve not heard Dohnányi’s work before, you are in for smiles, surprises, and a sense of wonder! Mozart’s B flat Duo, K424 was originally presented as part of a set of works by Michael Haydn, the younger brother of Franz Joseph. Mozart’s genius would not remain disguised, however, as his “obvious workmanship” shone brightly.

Please join us for this intriguing and highly enjoyable program. For tickets, please go to www.dapontequartet.org.
