History, Memory, and Poetry: Women in the Holocaust

For the culmination of Women’s History Month and in conjunction with MJM’s Delet Program, “History, Memory, and Poetry: Women in the Holocaust” honors the wives, mothers, daughters, and sisters in Nazi ghettos, death camps, and Jewish resistance groups. Delet Core Consultant Anna Wrobel, a celebrated local historian, teacher, and poet, weaves poetry and family memoir together in historical context to illuminate the collective past and present, with the aim of creating a compassionate, humane, and peace-filled future for humankind. Open to the general public and to Maine middle and high school classes.

Presenter Bio: Anna Wrobel, the first American-born child of a refugee family, is a United States historian, Holocaust Studies educator, published poet, and a Core Consulant for the Maine Jewish Museum’s Delet Program. She has presented in high schools, universities, adult education, history conferences, and museums. Anna’s history and poetry works are featured in journals, anthologies, and poetry collections. Her poems are explored by history and literature students in several states, Germany, Poland, and the Middle East.
