Are there Jews in Western Maine?
According to the 2024 Community Study, the answer is a resounding YES.
Please join us for a casual afternoon of conversation, connection, noshing, and community as the Jewish Community Alliance of Southern Maine (JCA) and Maine Jewish Museum (MJM) share how a unique statewide collaboration helped shine a light on Jewish life across Maine.
What began as a community study led by the JCA in partnership with Brandeis University evolved into something even more exciting: a statewide photography project led by the Maine Jewish Museum that captured the faces and stories of Jewish Maine. Nearly 300 individuals were photographed by award-winning Israeli photographer Hedva Rokach, from Portland to Presque Isle and everywhere in between.
Join Ashley Inbar (JCA) and Dawn LaRochelle (MJM) for an engaging and informal conversation about what they discovered along the way, why representation matters, and what it means to ensure all of Jewish Maine is seen, celebrated, and counted.
Most importantly, this is a chance to gather together with fellow Jews of Western Maine for an afternoon of warmth, connection, and community.
We hope you’ll join us.
