The Notorious RBG, when asked in 2017 about the most important person in her life, responded, “My personal trainer.” The late Supreme Court justice’s twice-weekly strength-training workouts were credited with keeping her physically and mentally spry well into her octogenarian years and spawned a book detailing her training regimen.
While we can’t promise you a seat on the Supreme Court, we can promise you a fun high-octane pre-dinner workout in the magnificent Museum Garden with award-winning personal trainer. published author, nutritional expert, and international speaker Melody Schoenfeld, MA, C.S.C.S. Melody will coach you up on her riff of the RBG workout, sprinkled in with nutritional tips that will keep you feeling your best, inside and out. She will also demonstrate how — at 5’0 tall and 105 lbs. — she can bend metal nails and rip telephone books in half and that strength can come in any size! No matter your shape, size, or assigned or chosen gender, you are welcome in the no-judgment Museum Garden Zone!
Come dressed to work out and bring a yoga mat (if you have one) or beach blanket/towel, a face towel, and a hydrating beverage. Registration is free, but required.
Trainer Bio: Melody Schoenfeld, MA, C.S.C.S., has nearly three decades of personal training experience and was named the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s 2019 Personal Trainer of the Year. She is the owner of Flawless Fitness, a personal training boutique in Pasadena. CA. Melody holds a Master’s degree in health psychology. She has held state and national records in all three lifts in powerlifting (squat, bench press, and deadlift). She competes in strongman, grip sport, and mas wrestling events.
Melody’s expertise in health and fitness has been featured on numerous television programs throughout the United States, and she has been published and quoted in popular media such as Shape, Oxygen, Breaking Muscle, Girls Gone Strong, My Fitness Pal, Men’s Fitness, and Men’s Health. She is the author of Pleasure Not Meating You: A Science-Based Approach to the Vegan Lifestyle (and Some Recipes, too) and Diet Lies and Weight Loss Truths and has several articles published in the Strength and Conditioning Journal.
