Dr. Judith Goldstein Discusses William Zorach

Join writer Dr. Judith Goldstein as she discusses the multidimensional work and life of William Zorach–in Maine and New York. Dr. Goldstein, who wrote an essay about the works by William Zorach currently on view at the Maine Jewish Museum, will be at the museum to tour and answer questions about the pieces with guests after her talk. Dr. Judith S. Goldstein received a Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University with a concentration on European and American history. As a Woodrow Wilson Scholar at Columbia University, she received a Masters degree in European history, then completed her doctoral studies at Columbia University after writing her dissertation on The Politics of Ethnic Pressure: The American Jewish Committee Fight Against Immigration Restriction: 1906-1917. This book was republished by Routledge in 2020. Dr. Goldstein wrote Crossing Lines: Histories of Jews and Gentiles in Three Communities and Inventing Great Neck: Jewish Identity and American Dreams. In 1997, Dr. Judith S. Goldstein founded Humanity in Action, dedicated to enhancing democracy, pluralism and the protection of minorities. She served as its Executive Director until her recent retirement.
