ROY GYÖNGY FOX

About This Exhibition
Personality tests show me to be an ambivert – dead center between intro and extro. On the fence. My art requires spending a lot of time there. Should I zig left or zag right? Ten years ago I stumbled onto my brushstroke series and made a few notes to stay on track.
* Only vertical strokes
* My sense of color is solid
* When they’re done, they’re done
This year I began collaging and adding to unresolved paintings I was on the fence about. These new works are the heart of this exhibition.
About the Artist
I’ve been a professional creative for fifty years while always maintaining a painting practice. After college I freelanced for a dozen years as a designer, art director, photographer and collage-illustrator in Los Angeles. Later I moved to Maine and started a small company, FoxKlox, making artful clocks. After decades of collage making (and therapy) I realized collages were providing safe harbor for my emotions. With my brushstroke paintings I began a new era for me, free from irony, guided by vulnerable intuition.
