Masha Ryskin and Serge Marchetta
March 6 – May 2, 2025
About This Exhibition
Masha Ryskin is a Jewish immigrant from the former Soviet Union. The artists have been collaborating since 2010 and developing themes that deal with memory, displacement, and passage of time. They have been working on projects connected to Jewish history since 2019 when they completed an installation at the former synagogue in Samorin, Slovakia. They have continued to develop these themes in Jerusalem, where Ryskin was a Fulbright Scholar in 2021-22. The artists have a social connection to Maine and are inspired by the architecture of Etz Haim and Beth Israel synagogues and the Maine landscape.
