We Share the Same Sky: Friendship During War

Rachael Cerrotti
September 11 – October 30, 2025

About This Exhibition

In 1939, Hana Dubova was sent with a cohort of Czech Jewish teens from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia to safety in the Danish countryside; she was 14 years old and now a refugee. Seventy-five years later, Hana’s granddaughter, photographer Rachael Cerrotti, set out to retrace her grandmother’s survival story. This included returning to Denmark and moving in with the descendants of those who helped save her grandmother’s life. This exhibition blends together archive pictures and diary entries from the early years of the war with contemporary photographs of Denmark to tell a story of intergenerational friendship, love, and loss.
