“The Nightingale’s Encores” With Thomas Wolf

Sunday, March 22, 2026
2:00 PM
RUNTIME: 90 MINUTES (NO INTERMISSION)

“A sensitive, perceptive biography. A captivating story of passion and music.”
– KIRKUS REVIEWS

Part storytelling, part live music, The Nightingale’s Encores is a wholly entertaining, multimedia narrated concert experience building on last year’s sold-out Nightingale’s Sonata performance. Accompanied by two acclaimed musicians and the projection of dozens of historical photographs, author Thomas Wolf recounts an entirely new set of fascinating and amusing stories involving his multi-generational musical family. Stretching from the Jewish ghetto on the Black Sea to the palaces of European royalty to Carnegie Hall and the White House and beyond, each story is accompanied by a musical encore that family members helped make famous. This second program based on Wolf’s award-winning book, The Nightingale’s Sonata, reveals family triumphs and tragedies while sketching the history of classical music in the 20th century. Wolf is joined by international prize-winning violinist, Blake Pouliot and Lincoln Center’s 2019 Avery Fisher Career Award pianist, Henry Kramer.
